The VAC's annual celebration event was held in the Great Hall of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.
The annual event took place on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in the Grand Aula of LMU Munich.
Professor Dr. Andreas Peichl set the tone for the evening with his lecture on “Basic Income Support in Case of Illness.” He called for a comprehensive reform of basic income support—a “system cast from a single mold—including income tax and social insurance”—as well as for combating undeclared work.
This and other current topics of the Federal Government were explored in greater depth during the subsequent panel discussion with Prof. Dr. Andreas Peichl (Head of the ifo Center for Macroeconomics and Surveys), Philippa Sigl-Glöckner (Founding Director of the think tank Dezernat Zukunft, member of the SPD’s Economic Policy Advisory Board), Prof. Dr. Peter Bofinger (Senior Professor of Economics, University of Würzburg), and Dr. Jürgen Michels (Chief Economist, BayernLB), moderated by VAC board member Ms. Christine Bergmann (Bayerischer Rundfunk).
As part of the event, Prof. Dr. Peter Bofinger was honored with the Hans Möller Medal for 2025. Named after Prof. Hans Möller, the VAC’s founding father in 1994, the medal has been awarded since 2004 in gratitude and recognition for outstanding contributions to economics. Dr. Bernhard Kassner, a member of the association’s board, delivered the laudatory speech.
Following the dean’s report by Prof. Dr. Fabian Waldinger on the faculty’s successful activities, certificates were presented to students of the Department of Economics at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich who were recognized under the ECONnect funding program.
At a reception after the event, guests continued to network and discuss. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all members, guests, and helpers for this special evening.
